FIGURATIVE PAINTING - ETSY FAVORITES

I have always been drawn to portraits and figures when it comes to painting. It was a pleasure to browse Etsy in search of some gems that I would love to see on my walls. Here are a few favorites with gorgeous abstract qualities yet filled with emotions.

HELPING JAPAN

            from The Big Picture

It is touching, heart warming and reassuring to see how many people all over the world care and are ready to help Japan. The print "Rising Sun" by Jessy LeDoux, for instance, has raised 2900$ up to now. And it's so symbolic and beautiful.

I like so much "For Japan" series by Alicia Bock.

A list with more artists that donate from selling their work can be found here at Poppytalk.

STARS INSPIRED ART

Astrology meets fashion in these images from UK edition of VOGUE inspired by zodiac signs. I like the styling of my sign (Saggi), and if you don't see your own check out all the rest here!
I'm loving the colour palette in Virgo and playfulness in Pisces!

Speaking of astrology, did you know that you can actually have your own natal chart turned into wall art?

StarArc makes quite nice looking modern graphical canvas prints ready to be hanged on the wall! You can't really choose the pattern because it is already determined by your birth, but you can customize it to fit the room decor by choosing among more than 30 colours and 8 sizes.

I can't say I really like them, maybe a print that could be framed would work for me, but I do like the idea of seeing something so personal in my house as a reminder. I think I would have it turquoise or yellow, hmmmm...

ILLUSTRATOR WITH A NEEDLE

Spanish  illustrator Paula Sanz Caballero creates with fabrics, needle and thread! She calls it hand stitched pictures.
Just imagine how much patience is needed to create all those amazing details.
It is obviously worth it because the result is beautiful! I am sure they look even better in real.

Pencil vs Camera

For the last day of the year, here is something cute from the gallery of obviously multi-talented artist Ben Heine
Who says you have to choose between the two? This looks great!

Ursula I Abresch Photography

I came across the beautiful work of Ursula I Abresch through Usefilm photo sharing site a few years ago, and she immediately became one of my favourite photographers. I admire her abstract images, the way she uses imagination to transform the everyday things into fine art. Do not miss the whole of her inspiring portfolio!

Poster Cabaret

When it comes to putting art on the wall, I really like illustrations. And when it comes to illustrations, the choices today are numerous!...however, if I was asked to pick the best, the guys at Poster Cabaret would definitely have my vote. There is simply something for every taste and the prices are so decent.

Here are some of my favourites...

make like a tree and leave by Andrew Holder

convict blues by Methane Studios

bicycle by Eleanor Grosch

Paris vs. New York

...or "a tally of two cities", is really a witty and original design project of Vahram Muratyan. I am not sure which side I would take, but that doesn't matter anyway! Let's start this week with some good art.
